Here are some tips for successful site submissions:

* Make sure you have content for search engines to scan. In general, have more than 10 posts on your site to give the search engines something to examine and evaluate.
* Do not submit your site to the same search engine more than once a month or longer, depending upon their criteria, not your anxiousness to be listed.
* Have ready to type, or copy and paste, a description of your site that is less than 200 words long, the title of the site, and the categories your site may belong to in a search engine directory.
* Have a list of your website's various "addresses/URLs" ready. You can submit your root directory as well as specific categories and feeds to search engines, expanding your search engine coverage.
* Keep a list of the various search engines and directories you submit to so you do not accidentally resubmit too soon, and you can keep track of how they include you among their pages and results.

Some SEO Techniques

hello

Here are some SEO advices for beginners i can say.

First of all i am in this field for over 3 years. I can say that i don't like the time spent and that's why i hired someone. But before that here is what i have manage to learn:

1. Link Directories - Good only for PR (google case)

Example: I paid about 300$ for links on many directories, on PR3-5 pages. All good. When google crawled some of them the PR went to 1 or 2.

Conclusion - Don't waist your time too much and especially the money on those.

2. Social Bookmarking - 100 digs for some pages

Example: I had a Web 2.0 Design Tutorial website and got about 100 digs for some articles, technorati, del.icio.us and so on.

When checking backlinks digg.com showed only 5 of them.

Conclusion - Pretty good but make sure your article is 110% original.

3. Article Submission - 20 articles on "famous" article directories

Example: As i was writing the tutorials i thought "let's publish them".

Backlinks - very few after so much work

4. Link Exchange websites - Paid about 50$/monthly for 3 link exchange websites.

Example: I added my website to this websites and received about 400 links every month. I added a link exchange script with the "nofollow" attribute ON. I even added the disallow rule in .htaccess. All good so far.

After 3 months i got about 10 emails from different people asking me to remove their links because their sites were banned from Google.

Conclusion: Don't do this kind of link exchange.REALLY DON'T. Your link will end on a 100 link page which of course will end to banning from Google and who knows others too.

5. Paid Traffic - About 50$/monthly for as they said " 3000 unique visitors"

Example - Because i did not had the time to surf other websites i paid for this services.

Conclusion: Google Analytics was telling me that from 3000 visitors/monthly i got only 200 from that site.

Alexa was the only one who showed that i had heavy traffic. But if you don't pay for 1 month the Alexa rank will go down too. Don't waist your time with this.

Ms. Marissa Meyer, the vice-president of search products and user experience of Google in the Web 2.0 conference at San Francisco announced that Google would soon be launching a new experiment that
would be very different in the Google Labs.Users would now be able to use social search to find friends. Users would need to be logged into a Google profile in order to use the new launch that is the social search. Google will suggest the user with connections to those users who are publicly available in the social network and would also try to crawl through your Gmail accounts if the users you select also have a Gmail account.

Hi Guys,

I heard from someone that google evaluate a website based on more than 600 factors. Have you guys heard something like that? Also according to you what the most important factors of a website for google?

Lets build up a list of such factors impotance wise. Although most of it will be assumptions as no one knows google algo, but it will be a fun. Lets start guys.

The important tip as far as bids go is to bid enough to get first screen exposure, and do not keep throwing more money at a problem to do this. If the click through rate is garbage, fix the keywords and content of the ads.

If you start out way too low you will always be fighting an uphill battle. Remember that you are bidding against the best ads that have been developed over time so you are likely going to get your tail kicked for a while.

Bad web designers can get you banned from Google

I don't like to accuse people of things, but I have a feeling that the woman I hired over the summer to re-design my blog inserted some spam which ultimately got me kicked out of Google.

With help from the people here on this forum, I found the wicked spam and deleted it.

What bothers me is the note that was left above the spam. Here it is:

It appears that the note was left behind to explain why the spam was inserted. That's why I believe my designer put that in my blog. Efforts to reach her have proven fruitless, as she's apparently dropped off the planet.
